Welcome to the Lingo blog

I believe that language is the key to a brighter future.

No matter who you are,

where you are from,

or what your level of education is.

Why?

Because language is important for everything we do in society. Most importantly, it is through language that we learn knowledge.

Here is one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite linguists:

“Language is not simply a mediator of reality; it is also a weapon to create, destroy, upgrade and discredit” (Hasan, 1978: 283).

Through language we access knowledge, and knowledge gives us the power to improve our lives in many ways.

This blog is mostly for people who do not have English as their first language. I am going to share a lot of my knowledge about English that I have learned as a teacher and linguist. I hope that you will learn a lot of knowledge that will give you the power to improve your life.

However, it is also for everybody else.

I hope you find this blog interesting and useful. Please let me know what you think of my posts, and tell me if there is something you would like me to write about.
